The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will be responsible for installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, tool modifications, metrology equipment repairs and general upkeep of high accuracy measuring equipment in different customers manufacturing sites and different environments.

  • A minimum of 5-6 years of experience servicing complex optical systems and electrical & hardware troubleshooting.
  • Advanced metrology equipment knowledge and working independently at customer sites.
  • Extensive technical experience working in a clean room environment (FAB) and/or lab environment adhering to all specific customer protocols.
  • Working with and around laser systems.
  • Understanding PCs, HMI interfaces, discreet I/O, analogs, communications items such as Ethernet, Modbus, etc. a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of the personal computer and the Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

 

 

Position Purpose

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will be responsible for installation, calibration, preventative maintenance, tool modifications, metrology equipment repairs and general upkeep of high accuracy measuring equipment in different customers manufacturing sites and different environments.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Capable of working independently on complex equipment/problems and meeting project timelines, objectives and goals.
  • Independently install advanced metrology equipment at customer sites, by conducting all activities needed, which may include set up, advanced programming, troubleshooting, collaborating with customer and client engineers/manufacturing staff.
  • Independently troubleshoot, perform repairs and perform maintenance tasks as required to maintain metrology equipment in prescribed condition and to minimize downtime. This can include mechanical repairs, certification, calibration, tuning, programming and validation testing to conform to factory specifications and accuracy standards.
  • Review and understand Statistical Process Control charts.
  • Cultivate action plan for problem resolution and present to internal and external clienteles.
  • Coordinate with FSE’s in China and US to advanced level skill sets.
  • Collaborate with  client Software Engineering in US to develop/improve system diagnostic capabilities of metrology equipment.
  • Develop written procedures and processes for field service activities that include troubleshooting of medium and advanced technical complexity.
  • Help improve client processes, hardware and software for continuous improvements of equipment.
  • Develop relationships with client to ensure high customer satisfaction and meet customer needs.
  • Provide support to Service Team by responding to general client needs via conference calls, phone and email.
  • Monitor metrology equipment performance against predefined criteria, analyze discrepancies and take action.
  • Report all tool actions/events and daily activities in field service reports.
  • Due to the complex nature of the metrology toolset, extensive training is required.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for customers.
  • Provide feedback to Management regarding customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in training sessions, and continuing education to stay abreast of new technical developments.
  • Strictly adhere to safety and confidentiality policies.
  • Develop field service procedures and documentation.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Supporting complex metrology equipment, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of machine vision systems, electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, robotics, and computer programming.
  • Able to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills including use of multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of pneumatic systems.
  • Electrical wiring and controls diagnosis and repair.
  • Structured problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding PCs, HMI interfaces, discreet I/O, analogs, communications items such as Ethernet, Modbus, etc. a plus.
  • System integration, test and debug skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet support deadlines in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Positive attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and directed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Requires domestic/international travel for installation and support.
  • Must be eligible for or have a valid passport.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred
  • A minimum of 5-6 years of experience servicing complex optical systems and electrical & hardware troubleshooting.
