Piping Design for Oil Refinery
About our Client:
The client is a Multi-Discipline Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management company in the chemical, petrochemical, refining, paper, power, industrial power/ cogeneration, gas and liquid transmission, manufacturing and fabrication industries.
Scope / Challenge:
The scope of the project included design and detailing for more than 30 new piping systems and revamping of around 500 odd pipelines that run across 40 plus critical and non- critical equipment. The project involved working with different suites like LFM that deals with laser scanning of existing units and then converting the point data to 3D models. The key challenge was the completion of the project within a time frame of 3 months.
Solution:
The TAAL Tech team studied the PIDs and other critical inputs along with the schedule in order to the execute the project with three different teams that would work with laser scans and site data. The first milestone was touched in a period of two weeks with the design ready to kick start using existing models generated out of the scan data. The client expected the delivery package wise and there were daily deliveries from each package. These were met with quality deliverables by working in parallel and concentric work layouts.
Result:
By the end of the third month, TAAL Tech was comfortable enough to achieve this target. This was recorded as one of the best performances against time and pressure by the client.
